Exports to the rest of the UK accounted for over half of Scotland's total exports

Scotland’s exports to the rest of the UK valued an estimated £48.6 billion in 2021 and accounted for over half (61%) of all Scotland’s exports. This is in line with previous published estimates, which consistently showed the majority of Scottish exports were to the rest of the UK.

The value of Scotland’s exports to the rest of the UK decreased in 2020, but then, unlike international exports, recovered so that in 2021, the value was slightly higher (up 4.0%) compared to 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic and EU exit.
