Larger area used to grow vegetables for human consumption than stockfeed
The area used to grow vegetables intended for human consumption (excluding potatoes) stood at 21,500 hectares in 2023, an increase of seven per cent compared with the five year average.
The area used to grow vegetables for animal feed (stockfeed) decreased by five per cent compared with the five year average. The total area of vegetables for stock feeding was 15,800 hectares.
Information on vegetable area in this section has a gap due to the survey being paused in 2022.
