In Wave 64, businesses not permanently stopped trading were asked about their gas and electricity costs – the specific questions asked are shown below.

Around half (49.9%) of applicable businesses reported that their gas prices are fixed or hedged, rising to 71.0% of businesses in the Accommodation & Food Services industry sector. An estimated 19.3% of applicable businesses reported that their gas prices are variable, rising to 35.7% of businesses in the Construction industry sector.
In Wave 64, 55.9% of applicable businesses reported that their electricity costs are fixed or hedged, rising to 77.3% in the Arts, Entertainment & Recreation industry sector. A further 20.0% of applicable businesses reported that their electricity prices are variable, rising to 33.4% of businesses in the Construction industry sector.
