Agriculture

Agriculture

The term ‘agriculture’ includes both the cultivation of crops and the domestication of animals. Agriculture is important for everyday survival by providing food, as well as materials for clothing and shelter. The agricultural industry can make use of pesticides which have an important role in controlling a variety of pests, weeds, diseases and moulds. However, they can also harm people and wildlife and damage the environment if not produced and used with care. The aim is to minimise the risk to both human health and the environment which can arise from the use of such pesticides.
