Paper 28th August 2002 - BESAC(02)02

BESAC(02)02 - REVIEW OF EXISTING DATA ON THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

PROPOSED TEMPLATE FOR RECORDING SOURCES

1. At the first meeting of the group last October, we agreed that it would be helpful if the group had an overview of all data that is available centrally on the Built Environment. For the last meeting, a list of all the data collections managed by the SE Housing Statistics Branch was compiled, but it was recognised that this does not by any means give the full picture of available information. The group agreed that, as a first step, a template should be drawn up, which could then be used to assemble a list of all relevant data sources giving a brief description of each.

2. A rough draft template has been drawn up and is attached for comment. Members are invited to consider whether this template would be a useful tool for gathering information on sources.

3. Once the template has been agreed, members will be invited to add to it. A couple of the Housing Statistics data collections have been included on the template to give an idea of what is meant by each of the heading.
