sportscotland figures show that there are more than 14,500 'built' sports facilities in Scotland situated at aroung 6,500 sites. This includes approximately:
1,750 tennis courts; and

- In 2004, 65% of the Scottish population live within 20 minutes, by foot, of a sports hall at these locations.
- An estimated 60% of Scottish sports facilities are local authority owned, while 20% are owned by sports clubs.
