Scottish Retail Sales Index – main findings

Scottish retail sales fell by 0.3 per cent in volume terms during the second quarter of 2012. On an annual basis, comparing the most recent four quarters to the previous four quarters (4Q-on-4Q), retail sales volumes grew by 0.6 per cent.

The value of retail sales in Scotland, without adjusting for inflation, fell by 0.6 per cent during the second quarter of 2012, and grew by 2.4 per cent annually (4Q-on-4Q).

Retail Sales in Great Britain

Across Great Britain as a whole, retail sales grew by 0.1 per cent in volume terms during the second quarter of 2012, and grew by 0.6 per cent annually (4Q-on-4Q).

The value of retail sales in Great Britain, without adjusting for inflation, fell by 0.3 per cent during the second quarter of 2012, and grew by 3.2 per cent annually (4Q-on-4Q).
