Main Findings
  • During 2018 Quarter 4 the volume of retail sales in Scotland (adjusted for inflation and seasonal effects) grew 0.6% in Scotland.
  • The value of retail sales in Scotland (adjusted for seasonal effects but not inflation) grew by 1.0% during 2018 Quarter 4. 
  • Over the year since 2017 Quarter 4, the volume of retail sales in Scotland has grown by 1.4%. Over the same period, the value of sales grew by 2.2%, and average retail store prices (the implied deflator) grew by 0.8%.
  • The equivalent figures for Great Britain as a whole, produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), are a decrease of 0.2% in volume and a decrease of 0.1% in value in the latest quarter.
