Police Strength

As at 31 December 2018, there were 17,175 full-time equivalent (FTE) police officers in Scotland. This is an increase of 941 police officers from the position at 31 March 2007 (+5.8 per cent). Police officer numbers have increased by 27 FTE officers (+0.2 per cent) in the last quarter (30 September 2018) and decrease by 81 FTE police officers (-0.5%) in the last year (31 December 2017).
