Supplier Development Programme - future contract opportunity notice

28 January 2015

Supplier Development Programme has recently published a future contract opportunity notice for a procurement related training framework.

Supplier Development Programme (SDP) is a local authority partnership programme which supports small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and third sector organisations to compete for the £9b of Scottish public sector spend. Supported by Scottish Government’s Digital Scotland Business Excellence Partnership (DSBEP), SDP runs a yearly calendar of tender training events and activities to help SME’s and the third sector improve their knowledge and competency when tendering for public sector contracts.

Gillian Cameron, Programme Manager, said:

“SDP is a vital source of support for Scottish SME’s and third sector bodies who can find the tendering process daunting and complex. As well as classroom-style training we also offer a suite of digital resources which we hope to grow in the coming months. Our tender training is delivered across all levels of expertise and also covers related topics such as quality management and collaborative bidding, and is completely free for eligible businesses.

Over the last year the Programme has expanded and now covers 30 of the 32 Scottish local authorities. Through this framework we aim to deliver a more regionalised service which maintains the consistency and quality of training that SDP is known for. I would urge all procurement training providers to view the notice and register their interest."

  • The Supplier Development Programme was established by a number of Scotland’s local authorities to provide public sector procurement training for SMEs and the Third Sector.
  • A £360,000 funding boost from the Scottish Government’s Digital Scotland Business Excellence Partnership was announced in June 2014, which will help an additional 2,200 businesses of all sizes, across all sectors, develop their digital capability and be more efficient in bidding and fulfilling public contracts. SME’s will receive advice on attracting online trade and guidance on transacting electronically with the public sector through dozens of events, training opportunities and a new SDP website.
  • SDP works in partnership with other business support organisations including Business Gateway, Scottish Enterprise, and Ready for Business.
