The Procurement People of Today and Leaders of Tomorrow programme aims to improve procurement and commercial skills in Scotland’s public sector. To achieve this, work is underway to develop a cross-sector ‘National Learning and Skills Strategy’ that addresses learning priorities and supports best practice and governance.
By working with public sector stakeholders such as Scotland Excel, universities and colleges, Skills Development Scotland and NHS National Procurement, the Scottish Government can support a joined-up approach to:
- developing procurement professionals and enabling our procurement leaders of tomorrow
- nurturing existing and future talent through identified career paths
- continuous professional development
Professional and Practice Development Strategic Forum
The Scottish Public Sector is working together to improve procurement and commercial skills through the Professional Practice and Development Strategic Forum (PPDSF).
This forum allows the Scottish public sector’s procurement community to focus on shared capability development programmes, which facilitate professional and practical development. A review is underway to develop a National Learning and Skills strategy and supporting projects to make best use of our shared resources in addressing current and future learning priorities.
Changes in Legislation - e-learning Reference Pack
The Scottish Government has developed an e-learning package which provides detailed information on the key changes to Scottish Procurement Legislation. This is part of a support package to assist with the implementation of the new procurement legislation in Scotland.
The Knowledge Hub is a mechanism to enable the PPDSF to share professional practice and address learning priorities across the Scottish public sector’s procurement community.
