PAW Scotland Bird of Prey Crime Hotspot Maps

Golden EagleAs part of the review of PAW Scotland over 2008 & 2009, partners were asked to look into the publication of independently verified data regarding the poisoning of birds of prey in Scotland. This information allows all the partner organisations to enter into meaningful discussions and work together to eradicate bad or illegal practices in Scotland. For 2013 onwards, new maps were published, showing other types of crimes against birds of prey (including shooting, illegal trapping, nest destruction and disturbance).

This publication project has been led by Scottish Land & Estates, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), in Scotland.

In October 2018, five maps were released:

  • Bird of prey poisoning incidents in Scotland  2013-2017
