Mobile messaging apps use: review

Overview

The externally-led review of Scottish Government’s use of mobile messaging apps and non-corporate technology was announced by the First Minister on 25 January 2024. It will be led by Emma Martins and will report by July 2024.

The aim of the review is to recommend improvements to our record management policy and practice as well as working practices in relation to modern digital workplaces. It will:

focus on openness and transparency and how trust is built in the way that government conducts business through technology
consider the boundaries between work and private communications and how these can be considered distinct as part of the digital information age

It will also ensure that the boundaries of the Level Three Intervention by the Scottish Information Commissioner are respected.
